Bass. The unsung hero of many a band. The drummer's wing man - and arguably the most important instrument of any band.

 

So many people assume bass is for the failed guitarist, being easier because 'it only has four strings', but this could not be further from the truth!

 

What makes a great bass player? Key attributes are: solid time keeping, knowledge of scales and arpeggios, the ability to keep it simple, but know when to slip in some essential flair and melody - the best bass lines always have a melody that works with the vocal - check out guys like James Jameson, Paul McCartney,  Flea, John Entwhistle, Bootsy Collins for great examples. Each one of these essential skills is covered in our bass classes!
